Why Repairing Broken Links Matters

Links are one of the most important signals in Traditional SEO, passing authority from one site or page to another. They act as votes of confidence that help search engines evaluate credibility and relevance, directly influencing your rankings.

Because quality links can be both difficult and expensive to acquire - often requiring time, outreach, and investment - preserving their equity is crucial.

By fixing broken links quickly, CDSEO protects link equity and helps provide a frustration-free browsing experience for your customers.

How CDSEO's Repair Links Feature Works

Requires Fix

Every time a broken link is hit, CDSEO logs it, records its referrer when available, and displays it in a "Fixes Required" section.

Fixing Broken Links

Clicking the FIX button will open up a popup allowing you to search for and select an existing page in Shopify - or type in your own URL.

Saving this redirect in CDSEO will publish a redirect in Shopify to send users from the broken link to the new, valid link.

This is done with a 301 redirect, which signals to search engines that the link has been changed and to pass the associated link equity.

Compliant

When broken links are fixed, they are marked as "Compliant." Once all broken links are addressed, you'll see No Fixes Required and the section will be marked green until new broken links are identified.

Ignored

If a link isn’t valid - for example, broken links from bots, typos, or bad sources - and you don't feel it requires a fix, it can be set as Ignored so it doesn't show as requiring a fix.

Never Miss a Broken Link

When new broken links are detected, CDSEO will send you an in-app notification. If any remain unresolved by day's end, you'll receive a nightly email identifying that links are in need of repair.
