Getting started with CDSEO is quick and easy. Follow these steps to install and configure the app for your Shopify store.

Installing from the Shopify App Store

  1. Visit the CDSEO listing in the Shopify App Store

Permissions

CDSEO requires the following permissions to optimize your store:

  • Products - Read and update product titles, descriptions, and meta information
  • Content - Read and update pages, articles, and blog content
  • Themes - Add structured data and verification codes to your theme
  • Files - Optimize and manage images
  • Navigation - Identify menu-linked collections for prioritization
  • Markets - Support multi-market stores

Enabling the App Embed Block

After installation, you need to enable the CDSEO App Embed Block in your theme. This allows CDSEO to add structured data and verification codes to your storefront.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Click the Theme Editor button when prompted (or go to Online Store > Themes > Customize)
  2. In the Theme Editor, the CDSEO App Embed Block will be automatically enabled
  3. Click the Save button at the top right of the Theme Editor to confirm the changes
  4. Return to CDSEO and click Recheck to verify

This message will no longer appear once the App Embed Block has been successfully enabled.

Initial Sync

After installation, CDSEO automatically syncs your store data:

  • Products - All product titles, descriptions, and meta information
  • Collections - Collection pages and their meta data
  • Pages - Static pages and their content
  • Articles - Blog posts and their meta information
  • Navigation - Menu structure to identify key collections

The initial sync may take a few minutes depending on the size of your store. You can start using CDSEO immediately while the sync completes in the background.

Content Module Setup

Adding Content to Your Theme

To display CDSEO content on your pages, add the CDSEO Content app block through the Theme Editor:

  1. Go to Online Store > Themes > Customize in Shopify

  2. Navigate to the page template where you want content to appear (e.g., Products, Collections)

  3. Click Add section or Add block

  4. Select the CDSEO Content app block

  5. Drag the block to position it where you want the content to display

  6. Click Save

Repeat for each page type where you want CDSEO content to appear: Products, Collections, Articles & Pages

Content Storage

Content created in CDSEO is stored in Shopify metafields:

  • cdseo.content - The rendered HTML content
  • cdseo.content_json - The structured content data

This ensures your content remains in Shopify even if you uninstall CDSEO.
