Verifying a site in Google Search Console and Bing Webmasters is the process of proving ownership of your website.
This verification will allow you to access insights into how your site performs in search results.
Using search console you will be able to access critical data and tools to manage and improve your site's presence in search, enhance SEO efforts, and monitor for any issues affecting site performance.
Understanding the Dashboard
The Site Verification dashboard shows the status of your search engine verifications.
Status Tabs
- Errors - Verification services that aren't configured
- Compliant - Verification services that are active
- Ignored - Verification services you've chosen to skip
Verification Cards
Each verification card displays:
- Service icon and name - Google or Bing
- Verification status - Whether the code is detected on your site
- Enabled Externally - Indicates if verification was set up outside CDSEO

Google Search Console
Google Search Console provides insights into:
- Search queries driving traffic to your site
- Indexing status of your pages
- Mobile usability issues
- Security problems
- Core Web Vitals performance
Bing Webmasters
Bing Webmasters provides insights into:
- Search performance on Bing and Yahoo
- Crawl errors and issues
- SEO reports and recommendations
- Backlink data
Setting Up Verification
Step 1: Get Your Verification Code
For Google Search Console:
- Go to Google Search Console
- Add your property (website)
- Choose "HTML tag" verification method
- Copy the content value from the meta tag
For Bing Webmasters:
- Go to Bing Webmasters
- Add your site
- Choose "Meta tag" verification method
- Copy the content value from the meta tag
Step 2: Enter the Code in CDSEO
- Click Fix on the verification service
- Paste your verification code (just the content value, or the entire meta tag)
- Click Save
CDSEO automatically extracts the verification code if you paste the entire meta tag.
Step 3: Verify in Search Console
After saving in CDSEO:
- Return to Google Search Console or Bing Webmasters
- Click the verify button
- The service should confirm ownership
Verification Status
Automatic Verification
CDSEO periodically checks your site to confirm the verification codes are properly installed.
Manual Verification
Click the refresh icon to manually re-verify all services.
Verification Errors
If verification fails, check that:
- The code was entered correctly
- No typos or extra characters were added
- Your theme isn't blocking the meta tags
Externally Enabled Verification
If CDSEO detects that verification is already set up (through your theme or another app), it will show as "Enabled Externally." You don't need to configure it again in CDSEO.
Editing Verification Codes
To update a verification code:
- Switch to the Compliant tab
- Find the verification service
- Click Edit
- Enter the new code
- Click Save
Ignoring Verification Services
If you don't want to set up certain verification services, use the Ignore button to remove them from your error list.
Unignoring Services
To restore an ignored verification service:
- Switch to the Ignored tab
- Find the service
- Click Unignore
